AEK Larnaca will start their European journey against Gibraltar side Lincoln Red Imps. AEK had a good Europa League qualifier campaign last season where they knocked out even Spartak Moscow but came 1 step too short as they fell in the playoffs to Czech side Slovan Liberec. AEK has had a busy pre-season but mainly with players coming as they want to get into the group stages only for the 2nd time in their history. Carles Soria was signed from Espanyol B, Cypriot international Marios Antoniades came from Panionios and forward Onisiforos Roushias from Omonoia. Nestoras Mytidis also came back from Roda JC having been on loan at AEK last season. Their latest and most high profile signing Nacho Cases from Sporting Gijon wont be available yet for this match having only done a couple of training sessions with the team.

Lincoln scored a 100 and conceded only 16 goals in their 27 league matches last season and lost only 1 game. That still was not enough for them to win the title as they finished 2nd, one point behind Europa. Last season Lincoln played in the Champions League qualifiers where they knocked out Estonian Champions Flora and also won the 1st leg match against Scottish Champions Celtic before losing 3-0 the second leg in Glasgow.

AEK will win this match but not with a huge margin.  Lincoln +3EH with 1.66 odds is our main pick.

St. Josephs FC vs AEL 21.45 Estádio Do Algarve , Faro Portugal
Odds 15.00 – 6.65 – 1.13 – Bet NOW at Winmasters

AEL Limassol will face another Gibraltar side St. Josephs FC in Faro Portugal where it took them over 13 hours to travel. AEL lost their main goalkeeper Rafael Romo to APOEL and also midfielder Piti and winger Georgiadis were released. To replace Romo, they brought in the Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha. They also brought in more players from Portuguese leagues and also Cypriot international Andreas Avraam from AE Larissa. On paper, the team looks stronger than last season. However many of their new signings are not yet match fit so some have been left home.

Now they will face St. Josephs FC who finished 3rd in the Gibraltar league. Despite being in the Top-3, they are nowhere near as good as Europa FC or Lincoln. They were 19 points behind the leaders. St. Josephs is a team with a lot of Spanish players who have played in Spanish lower leagues so you can expect a lot of skill. St. Josephs had an excellent defense last season as they conceded only 18 goals in 27 games. Defensively they can cause AEL problems.

The expectancy of goals is not high in this match. Main pick is under 3.0 goals.
