Apollon is looking to bounce back from their 0-0 away draw against AEK on Wednesday. The draw meant that Apollon has now dropped points in 3 of their last 4 matches and they are already 4 points behind leaders APOEL. Omonia though beat AEK last weekend at home 1-0 and they are now 7th just 2 points behind AEL for a Top-6 spot.

Apollon has played many games in a short period of time. First they had the Europa League which gave them extra games. Now it has been the post poned games from the first rounds and the cup. They have had several injuries in the squad and the lack of depth has been showing in their performances. They still have the quality to beat the weaker teams easily, but against bigger teams who have rested more, they struggle a bit. Apollon has scored the most goals and they have conceded the least, but they still have played a bit too many draws. Now they meet Omonia who they just beat 1-0 in the Cup just little over a week ago.

Omonia has one advantage here and that is that they did not play during the week. They are coming into this match with the confidence of beating AEK Larnaca and they have had the whole week to train. Apollon though has dominated Omonia in their recent history as out of their last 10 meetings, Apollon has won 9 and Omonia 1. The interesting thing is that in all of those 9 wins, Apollon had kept a clean sheet. Omonia also beat Apollon to nil last season in the league. Omonia is 2-1-4 on the road this season losing all their matches against the Big-6 so far this season. AEK beat them 1-0, AEL beat them 2-1 and APOEL 2-0. They have gotten some new players though and they are ready to make a push to get into the Top-6 before the regular season ends.

Prediction:

Both teams to score – No is the main pick.

AEK vs Ermis 18:00 AEK Arena, Larnaca

You would not have ever guessed that the two worst teams in the form table are AEK and Ermis. AEK has struggled to score goals and have not played 8 games without a win in all competition. This has dropped them already to 6th position. Ermis has only gotten 2 points from their last 6 games and are firmly in the bottom with 8 points.

AEK has had some problems this season. Their key players have been playing too much and the level of play has suffered. They do not have much depth and they do not create enough chances. They have only scored 1 goal in their last 4 games which is really poor for a team like AEK. They are still a decent home side with 3-2-2 but the AEK Arena is no longer a fortress and the visiting team can think that they can get something when they play there.

Something is exactly what Ermis wants from this game. They are desperate for points as they cannot afford to let the other teams go too much away when the regular season ends. They have now signed a couple of new players and they are hoping that a change in playing squad will improve their fortunes. They already played well against Enosis on Monday but just failed to score from their chances. Against AEK they will not get many chances so they will need to be more effective if they want anything from this match. Ermis won their first away game of the season against Alki, but have since lost 6 games in a row away from home.

Prediction:

Ermis can get something here so X2 is the main pick.
