Cyprus 2nd Division previews: Big game in Achna on Friday

Here are the Cyprus 2nd Division previews for the Game Week 18.

There are 13 rounds left of the 2nd Division and the fight for promotion and relegation gets tighter. Ethnikos Achna has the home advantage during this round against other top teams but their opposition might be the toughest, Anagennisi. Olympiakos, Othellos and Aris all play away on Saturday against bottom half teams but they are not easy as those teams fight against relegation.

Friday 1 February

Ethnikos Achna vs Anagennisi Deryneia 19:00 Stadio Dasaki

Ethnikos Achna is really chasing promotion immediately back to the 1st Division but they will face a tough match against Anagennisi Deryneia who have found form lately.

Ethnikos has only lost one game this season and at home they are still undefeated. They have failed to score only once this season at home and that was their 0-0 draw with Aris. That is also their only match where they kept a clean sheet. Anagennisi is 2-2-4 away from home, but those 2 draws and 2 wins have come in the last 4 away games. Anagennisi has now played 8 games without a loss (6 wins 2 draws).

Prediction: Ethnikos beat Anagennisi 0-2 in the season opener, but now Anagennisi is better. This is going to be a tight game where the under 2.5 goals is the best bet.

Saturday 2 February

Akritas vs EN THOI Lakatamias 15:00 Koinotiko Stadio Chlorakas

Two teams who are in bad form and fighting to avoid relegation meet in Chlorakas. Akritas has only gotten 1 point from their last 6 games and they are just above relegation zone. EN THOI suffered a humilating 8-0 loss in the Cup to AEL this week and they are only 2 points ahead of Akritas.

Akritas has the worst defense in the league with 36 goals conceded. EN THOI has one of the best defenses but also one of the worst offenses. They have found the net only 14 times in 17 games.

Prediction: Home side is in bad form but many of the recent losses have come against top teams. Their offense is better than EN THOI´s. Home win.

PAEEK vs Karmiotissa 15:00 Gipedo PAEEK Keryneia Epistrofi

PAEEK is bottom of the league and they have won only one game in their last 15. If they want to get out of trouble, now its the time to start winning. Karmiotissa is safely in the mid-table and even though their performances have improved recently, they are still a bad team on the road 1-2-5.

Prediction: PAEEK can get something here as Karmiotissa might focus on an important cup game next week. 1X double chance.

Ayia Napa vs Olympiakos 15:00 Dimotiko Stadio Ayia Napa

Both teams have a lot to play for here. Ayia Napa is only 1 point ahead of the relegation zone and Olympiakos is leading the league and trying to earn promotion. Ayia Napa is too good of a team to get relegated and at home they can beat anyone. They got a couple of decent players during the transfer window and Olympiakos might find it difficult on the road.

Prediction: Ayia Napa draw no bet. The difference between the teams is not that big.

Onisilos vs ASIL Lysi 15:00Dimotiko Stadio Sotiras

Onisilos is finding games very tought lately as they have lost their last 5 games and have dropped to the relegation zone. Their big problem has been in scoring goals as in those 5 games, they only managed to score in one of them. ASIL Lysi is a bit of an inconsistent team, but against weaker teams they seem to find ways to win.

Prediction: ASIL Lysi to win with both teams to score.

MEAP Nisou vs Othellos 14:30 Koinotiko Stadio Pera Choriou

This is an almost derby match as the distance between the towns is not that big. Newly promoted MEAP Nisou has struggled this season and are in the relegation zone. They are difficult to beat at home with a 2-4-2 record and now they face Othellos who are the worst away team of all the top teams. They have only won twice on the road this season.

Prediction: MEAP can get something here. They might even win, but main pick is double chance 1X.

AE Zakakiou vs Aris Limassol 15:00 Gipedo Zakakiou

This is a derby game between the both Limassol area teams. Both teams are also in form. AEZ lost to Anagennisi 1-0 in the last round but before that they had won 3 games back-to-back-to-back. Aris has only lost once in their last 8 games in the 2nd Division. Aris is not that good of an away team, but to this match they could get some supporters to help them along.

Prediction: Aris to win with both teams scoring.

Sunday 3 February

Digenis Voroklinis vs Omonia Aradippou 15:00Dimotiko Gimnastirio Agias Paraskevis

Both teams are looking for a win here as they need points to avoid relegation. Digenis is in desperate need as they are already 6 points from safety and from Omonia Aradippou. Neither team is in that good of a form, but it is the visitors who are the better team. That might be enough.

Prediction: Because this is such an important game, there should not be many goals. Under 2.5 goals is the main pick. Omonia to win is another.
