The manager is the same but the playing squad has changed quite a bit. They have new strikers with only Maglica remaining with the team. A lot of changes in midfield and defense also.

Apollon is a strong home team and they were the only team to have consistently beat APOEL. The last time APOEL beat them was during the 2015-16 season. Their problem has been beating the weaker teams. They played a lot of draws and also AEK was able to beat them twice. The Cyprus 1st Division is a difficult league to win. You cannot afford to drop points against the weaker teams.

Apollon already showed in the Europa League qualifiers that they are a team in form. Their defense is still solid and offensively they can score against anyone. They have plenty of offensive options so they can even handle if players are suspended or injured. Their strength is in their depth. They seem to be at least same level as last season but most likely a bit better.
