This is a Nicosia Derby game between the biggest favourite to win the league and one of the top favourites to be relegated. APOEL is currently 6th with 17 points from 9 games and Olympiakos is 9th with 12 points from 12 games.

APOEL suffered a bad 0-6 loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday in the Champions League and now they are looking for a big win to get them back on track. In the Cypriot league they have not been as dominant as they would have liked so far but they did beat Omonoia 1-3 and FC Pafos 4-0 in their recent games. They will now face a defensive wall that they have had problems in coping with this season. Against Aris they drew 0-0 and against Alki they only managed a late 0-1 win. Now though they have some more options  as they have been getting men back from injury. APOEL will rest Aloneftis, Carlao, Lago and Vinicius in this match. Efrem has some small injuries and might also miss the game. Bertoglio and Oar are back.

Olympiakos has played really well considering that they were one of the few teams that did not really strengthen their squad despite earning promotion from the 2nd division. They only have 4 foreign players and the rest are from Cyprus  which is the lowest amount of any team. However their organised defensive displays have been very good and they have earned some vital points that might help them still to stay up. They cannot afford to lose any of their key players as their squad seriously lacks depth. Olympiakos will still miss Kapartis but he will be available for their next game against Doxa. Tsiaklis is still out.

Its been a while since the teams have met each other but starting since 1996, Olympiakos has never beaten APOEL. Counting all competitions, APOEL has beaten them 12 times at home with 4 matches ending in a draw.

Prediction:

Olympiakos is hoping for a similar result as they did with Omonia on this same stadium (2-2) but APOEL has better defense so most likely outcome is 2-0. Olympiakos wont be thrashed so a 3 goal handicap for Olympiakos might be a good bet.
