This is the second match in the Europa League, group A for both teams. Leverkusen leads the group having beaten Bulgarian side Ludogorets 2-3 in the first match. AEK Larnaca lost their first match at home to FC Zurich 0-1 and need points to catch up.

Bayer Leverkusen is a big German team but they have not started their Bundesliga campaign that well as they are currently on 14th position with two wins and four losses. One of their main issues has been defensive problems as they have conceded already 13 goals in six games. They started the season without their number one goalkeeper Hradecky but when he returned, the defense became immediately better and they managed to even keep one clean sheet. In their last game though against Borussia Dortmund they lost 2-4. Leverkusen is not a defensive team as they want to attack as much as they can. This should open up counter attacking options for AEK. Leverkusen has been a good home team in the Europa leagues as they have lost only three times in their last 18 games since 2007.

AEK lost surprisingly 0-1 to Zurich their opening game. This was a bad result for them as the Zurich game at home was supposed to be the easiest one from them all. AEK Larnaca is a lot better then what that game showed as that is their only defeat this season in 11 games. They did knock out Sturm Graz and Trencin deservedly on their way to the Europa League group stages. In the Cyprus 1st division, AEK has only played two games so far. They drew 1-1 against city rivals Nea Salamina but then beat one of the big- 6 teams Omonia 1-0 at home. AEK has a good goalkeeper, solid defense and very good counter attacking abilities. Leverkusen need to be careful with those.

Leverkusen team news:

Leverkusen will be without Joel Pohjanpalo, Julian Baumgartlinger, Charles Aranguiz and goalkeeper Thorsten Kirschbaum. Greek defender Panagiotis Retsos is also out.

AEK team news:

AEK will be without Thomas Ioannou and Vincent Laban. Jorge, Tete and Antoniadis are doubts.

Prediction:

There is a big chance that Leverkusen will underestimate AEK. Main pick is both teams to score. AEK will keep this match tight and if they will lose, it will not be with a big margin.
